Creating a Blog Button & Grab Box

Today I am going to teach you how to create your very own blog button and grab box in 5 simple steps! Exciting, right? There are a ton of different sites with different instructions. It took me a while and having to go back and forth between a few sites. So to save you time, here's how I made mine.

1. Create an image for your button
This can be done in Photoshop or Microsoft Paint. Choose whichever you are most comfortable with.  Just have fun and be creative! If you're not feeling creative, you can purchase an image. is a pretty popular site. The image to the right is what I started with.

2. Resize your image
Once you've made/purchased your image, you'll want to make a copy of it in the size you want. For this tutorial, we'll use the size 125px by 125px. To do this you'll want to log in to  (a free online photo editing service) and upload your photo. I chose to add my text from Picnik. Once all of your editing is done, crop your photo to a perfect square (it doesn't matter what size just as long as it's a square). Next you can select "resize" and enter 125px by 125px, then save.

3. Upload your image to Photobucket
Once uploaded, copy the Direct Link code

4. Create the code that others will use to grab your button
Enter your site's URL into the bold "YourSiteURL". Enter your image's Direct Link code into "YourButtonImageURL"

5. Put your button and grab box on your blog
Choose where you want your Button & Grab Box (sidebar, different page, etc). Just make sure it's a text widget. Place the entire next paragraph into the widget, making sure to replace the bold with your info.

<a href="" target="_blank"><img src="
are.jpg" alt="ThisCrazyLittleNest" width="125" height="125" /></a>

TA-DA! You made a blog button with grab box!
